Life Legacy

Troy M. Swartzbaugh, 31, formerly of Jefferson, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. following an brief illness. He was the loving husband of Marcy L. (Ellers) Swartzbaugh to whom he was married for more than eight years.
The funeral service in thanksgiving for Troy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 York St., Codorus, with the Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the church. He will be laid to rest in Jefferson Cemetery following the service, with full military honors performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Irwin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Spring Grove, is coordinating the arrangements.
Born January 7, 1976 in York, Troy was the only son of Ashley M. and Mary Jean (Bortner) Swartzbaugh of Jefferson.
He was employed as an Analyst for more than eight years with Northrop Grumman Defense Contractor in Virginia.
He graduated with the Spring Grove High School Class of 1994 and was a pitcher for the Rocket Baseball Team. Troy was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees.
Troy served in the United States Navy from 1994 to1998 as a cryptologist.
He was a member of the Jefferson Fire Company and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
In addition to his wife, Marcy, and his parents, Troy was a loving father to his two young children, Elizabeth M. Swartzbaugh and Michael A. Swartzbaugh, both at home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Troy to his church, Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 218, Codorus, PA 17311; or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, 3800 Reservoir Rd., NW, Washington, DC 20057.
